Skywatch Friday

A walk on the prairie
I stopped here on my way out to Prairie Park the other morning.

Just before sunup Sept. 1st
Crawford County Kansas

I also stopped at Pin Oak Lake and sat watching the sun rise from the dam. I could hear Dove hunters nearby as the season of fall hunting began.

By the time I arrived at the Prairie the sun was up. I was greeted by a doe and two fawns.

The bluestem is going to seed.

Button Blazing Star

A Katydid on a Thistle

The cool morning began to heat up a bit as I hiked back to my car to head home.

Absolutely beautiful. Well worth getting up so early for. I love your last shot with the thistle - so clear and the colour is stunning.

You got me at the colour purple. Spectacular all of them, but that purple is a real wow!

What a pretty place for a walk. Your photos are excellent. The second one is my favorite, but I also love the glowing color in the first one. I enjoyed this post.

Larry, your photos are beautiful. The sky photos are lovely, but I most admire the one of the bluestem going to seed. The Kansas prairie is beautiful. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos.

What an amazingly relaxing exploration that must have been. The soothing colors of the first shot amaze me. Gorgeous. I love the reflection of the sun in the second and the katydid on the thistle made me smile. Great shots!
