The "Days" festivals have begun popping up across middle America this month. Small towns across the region are opening up their town squares, parks and
downtowns to the festival season. It goes right on into late summer. Each town seems to have its own spin on a reason to get out and celebrate. There is "Good
Ole Days", "Little Balkans Days", and many more to boot. They are a great tradition here. This particular celebration is "Truman Days" over in Lamar MO. Harry Truman was apparently was born here and if I'm not mistaken Wyatt Earp lived here for a while back in the day..

The day began with
wiener dog races, these guys were fast! Sponsored by the
Daschund Rescue society.

In the senior dog category, not much happened very quickly. there was a winner though as one old girl made her way down the track at a leisurely pace.

Of course there is always
barbecue.

Horse and Pony drawn wagons provided a slow ride around the square.

You could ride with these two.

Or these two.

Lots of kids and small livestock.

Politicians were present, not many takers at the booths though, go figure.

The town has an amazing old deco movie theatre, currently showing Iron Man,

There were trees for sale proceeds went to the town park fund. I bought a Tulip Poplar

Cloggers of all ages and abilities.

A great way to spend a beautiful almost chilly Saturday.
