Thanksgiving at the farm

We spent the Thanksgiving Holiday at my wife's family farm. The Land has been in the family continuously sine the territory was opened in the 1850s. Her ancestors settled here after immigrating from Germany. The barn is not the original, but its close to 100 years old.
I took a hike around the acreage past the cattle and back to the barn.
A mismatched and multicolored group of kittens dashed to the safety of the old corners and feed bins. Except for a few brave souls.
Where milking cows once stayed out of the cold Kansas winter nights with mules and draft horses, a lone pony now keeps the faith.

This is a delightful tour around the acreage you took us on, Larry. Super photos, all, and I especially like the sepia.

Most old barns have some missing boards like this one does. It is still home for the pony though.

Love these photos. It must have been a lovely place to grow up. The barn looks great in sepia!

Beautiful photos. Love them all... the barn is beautiful. I like the weathered red paint. The pony is adorable! It is awesome to have something passed down through the family for so long! Stopping by from CC a week late!
