My World Tuesday Tulip Time

It's Tulip Time in Topeka!

Lake Shawnee has some wonderful volunteers that care for all these beautiful tulips. We spent a short time enjoying these yesterday on the way to our nieces wedding.
Several creek beds flowed down to the lake under the shade of trees.

My World Tuesday

Sunday morning found me on my own headed east to try out some fly fishing at Bennett Springs State Park near Lebanon Missouri. I had a cooler full of pb & j sandwiches, cold drinks, The Marshall Tucker band on the stereo and a few new flies to try out. In between casts I wandered around and took a few photos of other folks enjoying the beautiful spring day.

The Dogwoods are in bloom every where in the timber at this time of year.

"You do your needed work out of love, the love that dares not speak its name, the love of spareness, beauty, open space, clear skies, and flowing streams, grizzly bear and mountain lion, wolf pack and twelve-pack, of wilderness and wanderlust and primal human freedom and so forth." Edward Abbey

Some new life from a morning walk. Easter morning, a sun behind some high ice clouds, a southerly breeze and a feeling that life renews itself and rises from the ground. As I watched the sun reach above the clouds and begin to warm the pasture I remembered past Easter mornings, early mass with our daughters in new dresses, colored eggs, family egg hunts, the smells of meals cooking in the house. The girls are grown and have lives of their own, one about to move several states away, new life. They both will be here today for the afternoon one with her boyfriend from college and the other without her new husband who has to work today. They will be here for awhile and then off again to their new lives.
